This award aims to promote, celebrate and disseminate innovative projects in teaching and learning developed by groups and/or interdisciplinary teams. This is an initiative of ECIU members who share commited to high quality educational practice and wish to reward and give visibility to exemplary practices that demonstrate innovation and seek pedagogical excellence.
Each institution of the Consortium may submit only one application for the Team Award. This annual prize, worth € 2,500, is attributed to the institutional project that most corresponds to the established innovation criteria and which challenges the current ways of thinking about how people learn.
In May of this year, the EduPARK Project was selected by the Rectory of the University of Aveiro (UA) to represent the University in the Team Award, having been "the representative project of the pedagogical excellence of the academy", within "excellent works presented in this contest" . The news can be revisited here: http://blogs.ua.pt/cidtff/index.php/2018/05/04/ua-seleciona-o-edupark-para-o-european-consortium-of-innovative-universities -team-award-for-innovation-in-teaching-and-learning/
At European level, after examining all the applications, the Team Award jury selected EduPARK's candidacy as the winner and justified its decision on the following:
a) The team is made up of several experts from different disciplines who work together in this project, being multidisciplinary;
b) The integration of Augmented Reality into a day-to-day technology, such as the smartphone, is a very innovative idea;
c) The project is a good example of how an everyday object can also be used as an educational tool;
d) The project is an excellent example of what ECIU intends to achieve: challenge conventional thinking about education.
