This article reports a Master's study in Applied Biology developed within the scope of the EduPARK project. It is intended to analyze the satisfaction of an 8thgrade class of students regarding the teaching strategy implemented (interactive educational game supported by mobile and augmented reality technologies in anoutdoor learningcontext). An Educational Guide included in the EduPARK app was developed and implemented, based on the Natural Sciences curriculum for the 8thgrade. A case study was conducted, with data collection based on observation and questionnaireinquiry. The results show that the use of the EduPARK mobile app,and the fact that it allows to undertake activities in formal learning context in outdoor environments, combined with digital technologies, promotes students’ attention and interest in learning NaturalSciences. Students revealed a positive perception regarding the educational value of the app.

The EduPARK coordinator shared with COMPETE 2020 a testimony on the added value of the support COMPETE 2020 in the project in question, through the news "Have you heard of EduPARK: Mobile Learning, Augmented Reality and Geocaching in Science Education?"
A crucial aspect for students during the learning process is the construction of knowledge to reach a more complex level of understanding. Skills such as problem solving, critical, analytical and creative thinking, collaboration, teamwork, digital and communication skills are increasingly required in recruitment processes, so schools should play an active role in preparing students.
The great challenge of the EduPARK project is to create original, attractive and effective strategies for interdisciplinary learning in Natural Sciences, Physical Chemistry, Mathematics, History, among others. How? Through the creation of an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) application using mobile devices supporting Geocaching-based activities that will be explored by teachers and students from elementary to higher education, in outdoor contexts, with potential usefulness for tourism/the general public.
The project uses Augmented Reality image recognition, triggering content in the form of text, audio, video and even 3D images, as well as GPS localization, combining the real world with the virtual, through activities based on Geocaching practice.
The physical context is the Infante D. Pedro Park, in Aveiro, which has a rich botanical diversity and historical heritage.
It is intended to understand how a mobile and innovative application using Augmented Reality, aimed at teachers and students, in contexts of outdoor study visits, may have impact on: (a) educational value; (b) intrinsic motivation; (c) commitment; (d) authentic learning; (e) lifelong learning; and (f) conservation and sustainability habits.
